This Jane’s Walk, taking place in the West End of Atlanta, focuses on the theme of History & Culture.
Discover the literary history of Atlanta’s West End on the West End Writers tour! Join Rebakah Enoch, Manager of The Wren’s Nest, and Robert Thompson from Insight Cultural Tourism for a fun, informative walk through the neighborhood. You’ll visit key spots tied to writers who lived and worked here, including Hammonds House Museum and the Shrine of the Black Madonna bookstore.
Rebekah will share the story of The Wren’s Nest, once home to author Joel Chandler Harris, while Robert will highlight other local gems that celebrate the West End’s vibrant cultural scene.
Whether you’re a fan of history, literature, or art, this tour offers an exciting look at the neighborhood’s creative spirit.

About Walk Leaders, Rebekah Enoch & Robert Thompson
Rebekah Enoch is the Manager of The Wren’s Nest, a nonprofit museum and cultural center that preserves storytelling traditions, cultivates the next generation of readers and writers, and celebrates self-expression. The Wren’s Nest was originally the home of author and journalist Joel Chandler Harris and is today a National Historic Landmark in Atlanta's West End neighborhood. It has operated as a museum since 1913 and is Atlanta’s oldest house museum.
Robert Thompson is a local historian who offers comprehensive historical walking tours of the In-town SW ATL area and founder of Insight Cultural Tourism is a local tourism company that has been conducting tours primarily in the West End neighborhoods since 2014. ICT has done history tours, art tours, and Community Garden tours and were the recipient of a $100,000 grant from the Atlanta beltline partnership in 2017. ICT has also developed and conducted tours for The Wren’s Nest Museum, Spelman College, the Hammonds House Museum, Georgia stand up, Plywood People and the Atlanta Food Bank.

Jane’s Walk is an annual global festival from May 2-4 honoring the legacy of urbanist, activist, and writer Jane Jacobs with free, citizen-led walking tours through the neighborhoods that lend so much character to our cities.
The festival promotes civic engagement and encourages leaders and participants to share stories about their communities and use walking as a means of connecting with their neighbors.
