Meet At: Five Points Marta Station
30 Alabama Street Southwest Atlanta, GA, 30303
About This Event
This Jane’s Walk, taking place in Downtown Atlanta, focuses on themes of Art & Architecture, Environment, History & Culture.
Interested in discovering how design tells the story of Atlanta’s rich history?
Join us for the Downtown Atlanta Type Walk, a free, fun-filled exploration of the city’s history told through design! Led by the talented Sue Youngblood, we’ll kick off the adventure at the Five Points Marta station and stroll up Forsyth Street to 72 Marietta Street. From there, we’ll drive into the vibrant Fairlie-Poplar historic district, uncovering the stories hidden in street signs, building names, graffiti, and plaques.
As we walk through the iconic Five Points intersection (no, not Little Five Points) and up Peachtree Street, we’ll explore how design shapes the narrative of the evolving city, ending with a refreshing stop at Hardy Ivy Park.
Get ready to connect the dots between design, history, and Atlanta’s unique urban spirit. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. This walk will take place rain or shine. Please arrive on time; late arrivals will be left behind.
