Join the inspiring Arjun Bir, a licensed engineer and design enthusiast, for an enlightening walking tour of Midtown Atlanta. See the world of architecture through a new lens! Delve into the often-overlooked design choices that sculpt the buildings around us and transform our urban landscape. Arjun will engage you with hands-on exercises and captivating real-world examples, revealing the secrets behind structural performance and illustrating how thoughtful design controls the flow of water, air, and heat within the building envelope.

About Walk Leader, Arjun Bir

Arjun Bir is a proud Georgia Tech alumnus with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, is a licensed professional engineer in five states. He is a building scientist with a specialization in the design, investigation and rehabilitation of building enclosures. Arjun has worked on buildings of all ages, and loves to share a passion for the built environment with others. Arjun is always fascinated by the design decisions that inform the built environment that we so often overlook - whether that is material selection, architectural style, or more granular design details. During this Jane’s Walk, Arjun aims to ignite your curiosity and inspire you to appreciate the intricate design choices—both subtle and bold—that ensure our buildings are not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing.


Registration

Jane’s Walks are free to attend, but registration is required. Please click the link below to save your spot!

  • Jane’s Walk is an annual global festival from May 2-4 honoring the legacy of urbanist, activist, and writer Jane Jacobs with free, citizen-led walking tours through the neighborhoods that lend so much character to our cities.

    The festival promotes civic engagement and encourages leaders and participants to share stories about their communities and use walking as a means of connecting with their neighbors.

  • The Museum of Design Atlanta is conveniently located in the Midtown Arts District, right across the street from the Woodruff Arts Center at 1315 Peachtree St. NE Atlanta, GA 30309.

    MODA is located on the ground floor of the 1315 Peachtree Building. The building is a mix use site and is shared by MODA, the Peachtree Public Library, and Perkins+Will.

    MODA resides on the land of the Mvskoke (Muscogee / Creek) people.

    Parking

    MODA does not offer designated parking. There are public parking lots located in the Midtown Arts district, as well as metered parking available along Peachtree St NE. The paid Lanier parking deck at 1337 Peachtree St NE is the closest deck within walking distance of the museum.

    Bike Riders

    For visitors traveling by bike, there are plenty of bike racks conveniently located around MODA! You can find them along Peachtree Street, including right outside of MODA, and at the Arts Center MARTA Station. Don’t forget to bring a lock!

    MARTA

    If visiting by train, take the North or South rail line to the Arts Center MARTA Station (N5), located directly behind the Woodruff Arts Center (accessible). Exit the Arts Center Station at the top level by the Peachtree Street exit. You will be behind the Woodruff Arts Center. MODA is located directly across the street from the Woodruff Arts Center. Use the cross-walk at the intersection of 16th and Peachtree to reach our building.

  • MODA reserves the right to cancel a program if the minimum enrollment requirements are not met.

    If you need to cancel your plans for any reason, we kindly request that you notify us 48 hours prior to the event start.

    By doing so, we can release your seat to another individual interested in joining us for this Jane’s Walk!
