Tantrum Thursday: Let’s Talk Branding!

  • Museum of Design Atlanta 1315 Peachtree Street Northeast Atlanta, GA, 30309 United States (map)

In-person at MODA

About This Event

Join David Tann, founder and CEO of Tantrum Agency and MODA’s first Designer-in-Residence, for a workshop that dives into the heart of branding!

As the visionary behind an award-winning creative agency that believes the brand is everything, David will share insights from his work helping global companies and organizations build brands that resonate deeply with their audiences. In this hands-on session, participants will learn more about Tantrum's approach to creating brands that are more than just logos or taglines—they're stories, experiences, and identities that speak to their audiences and what they stand for.

Drawing from Tantrum’s belief in the power of creative risk-taking and strategic storytelling, David will guide attendees through the principles of integrity, consistency, and daring to challenge the status quo. Whether you’re a creative professional, entrepreneur, or just curious about how branding works, this workshop will provide practical tools to elevate your brand and build meaningful connections with your audience.

  • Besides being MODA’s designer-in-residence, David Tann is the award-winning founder and CEO of Tantrum Agency. He has spent his entire career working with global brands. David has launched brands for Abercrombie & Fitch, designed record-breaking holiday campaigns for Bath & Body Works, managed packaging for Kohl’s department store, revitalized the OshKosh B’gosh clothing brand, directed e-commerce for Carter’s, and unveiled the new identity for his hometown NBA basketball team, the Atlanta Hawks.

Prior to founding Tantrum, David served as VP, Creative Director for the Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena, where he was responsible for establishing a consistent brand voice across all media. David and his creative team played an integral part in rolling out the NBA team’s bold visual identity and delivered a vibrant brand aesthetic that represented the team’s mantra “True to Atlanta”.

In 2023, Tann was named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Atlanta Business League. In 2021, he was awarded AMA Atlanta Marketer of the Year. And in 2020, he was featured as one of Simply Buckhead Magazine’s Rising Stars. David has a B.A. in Communication from Wake Forest University and is a graduate of the design program at Miami Ad School at The Portfolio Center.

Outside of his work with Tantrum, Tann serves as an adjunct professor at the Miami Ad School at Portfolio Center, where he has taught Retail Branding for many years. He also currently serves on the Board of Directors for North Atlanta High School’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program.
