Tactical Urbanism

Virtual

Interested in making your neighborhood walkable or more bike-friendly? What about making an intersection safer for kids, or creating more green space?

Let’s learn from local projects to examine how change within public spaces in Atlanta happens.

In this workshop, we will:

  • dive into some case studies about walkability in neighborhoods, tricky intersections, and city parks

  • talk about how to get feedback about community challenges and how we can drive community change

  • explore Tactical Urbanism as a practice in which anyone can take ownership and participate in redesigning their public space

  • learn about tools for taking on Tactical Urbanism projects

What to expect:

  • Practical & pragmatic steps that you could start taking today to generate real change

  • Sarah Lawrence is a designer, illustrator, and creative technologist living in Atlanta, Georgia. With her work spanning complex regional planning to branding new nonprofit initiatives, she has a knack for solving tough, design-driven problems. She's been featured in Fast Company, Quipsologies, 99U, and HLN – just to name a few! Sarah facilitates classes for organizations like TEDx, DesignMadison, and MODA too. She's a proud mother to an exceptionally good girl named Cocoa, who keeps her company at her desk, and many plants.

  • MODA reserves the right to cancel a program if the minimum enrollment requirements are not met, but don't worry: should MODA have to cancel, we will gladly issue a full refund to all registrants. If you need to cancel your plans for any reason, we kindly request that you notify us at least 7 days prior to the event start. By doing so, we can process a refund for the ticket cost (minus a small $10 processing fee per class). Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds for cancellations made less than 7 days before an event.‌

  • Designers with different styles of learning or special needs are welcome in MODA public programs. We will be able to most effectively help everyone learn and enjoy this experience if we know about those needs in advance of the program. Please email maryk@museumofdesign.org with questions or information
