Minecraft Studio: Designing Your Own Mystery Game

Virtual | Ages 8 – 14

Join MODA for an enigmatic adventure as we design our own Minecraft mysteries!

In this Afterschool Studio, young designers will have the chance to start designing their own mystery games on the MODA Minecraft server and collaborate with classmates to learn how to build spaces quickly using World Edit commands. Additionally, they will have an opportunity to try out each other's mystery games and offer feedback.

In this Afterschool Studio, students will . . .

  • Develop and craft stories and narratives for their mysteries

  • Utilize and learn how to use custom code to edit the minecraft world

  • Explore different approaches to creating clues for their mystery

  • Foster creative thinking and problem-solving skills through hands-on design projects.

  • Encourage and build empathy

  • Strengthen creativity

  • Build resilience

Requirements:

  • A Mac or PC with a strong connection to the internet. PLEASE NOTE: Minecraft Java Edition will not work on Chromebooks, tablets, or phones.

  • Minecraft Java Edition, $29.99 (https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/store/minecraft-java-edition). PLEASE NOTE: Students with other editions of Minecraft are welcome to participate and build in their own single-player world; however, only students with Minecraft Java Edition will be able to interact with other students on the MODA multiplayer Minecraft Server.
