Game Design Studio: Platformer Games

Virtual | Ages 8-13

Join MODA for a virtual Afterschool Studio where you’ll tap into your creativity as you design and code your very own platformer game! You’ll be able to create your own custom character, backgrounds, platforms, and collectables as you create a game in which characters leap, dive, or tumble from platform to platform.

You’ll also learn about career opportunities in STEM, computer science, and the gaming industry.

As the studio wraps up, you’ll be able to publish your game, share it with other participants, and play the games they’ve created, as well.

This Afterschool Studio:

  • Allows students to practice critical thinking skills

  • Encourages collaboration with others

  • Strengthens creativity

  • Builds resilience

  • Provides a hands-on overview of how video games are designed

  • Introduces STEAM and game careers

Requirements:

  • Requires a computer or tablet with strong internet access

  • A free account on Scratch.

Registration Fee: Registration for this Afterschool Studio is free, but space is limited — save your young designer’s seat by clicking the link below!
