Minecraft Studio: Living With Nature

Virtual | Ages 8-14

How can we make buildings that help nature rather than hurt it?

In this Minecraft Afternoon Studio, we’ll learn how architects and designers are creating homes that combat climate change and work with nature, rather than against it.

Then, we’ll head to MODA’s Minecraft server to design and build design a climate-resilient neighborhood.

In this Afterschool Studio, students will . . .

  • Collaborate with others to design and build a sustainable neighborhood

  • Practice using empathy in the design process

  • Learn about climate change and ways that design can help us take on the climate challenge

  • Strengthen creativity

  • Build resilience

Requirements:

  • A Mac or PC with a strong connection to the internet. PLEASE NOTE: Minecraft Java Edition will not work on Chromebooks, tablets, or phones.

  • Minecraft Java Edition, $29.99 (https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/store/minecraft-java-edition). PLEASE NOTE: Students with other editions of Minecraft are welcome to participate and build in their own single-player world; however, only students with Minecraft Java Edition will be able to interact with other students on the MODA multiplayer Minecraft Server.

Registration Fee: Registration for this Afterschool Studio is free, but space is limited — save your young designer’s seat by clicking the link below!

  • MODA reserves the right to cancel a program if the minimum enrollment requirements are not met, but don't worry: should MODA have to cancel, we will gladly issue a full refund to all registrants (if applicable). If you need to cancel your plans for any reason, we kindly request that you notify us at least 7 days prior to the event start.

  • Designers with different styles of learning or special needs are welcome in MODA public programs. We will be able to most effectively help everyone learn and enjoy this experience if we know about those needs in advance of the program.
