DESIGN FOR JUSTICE
Grades 4 - 12 | Up to 30 Students
During this virtual workshop, students will explore how design impacts society on a personal, community, and global level.
Students will view MODA’s current exhibition through the lens of social equity and think critically and creatively about the solutions they see from other designers, with guidance from the Principles of Design from the Design Justice Network. Then, students will discuss and unpack all the ways that injustice and power imbalances impact our daily lives and look at some examples of design that are making the world a more just and equitable place. After learning about the work of designers, activists, artists, and other creatives, students will team up to define a challenge of inequity or injustice in our world and use their creativity, compassion, and empathy to design an object, space, or system that proposes a solution, using the Liberatory Design Process as a guide.
