Minecraft Studio: Spooky Villages

Virtual | Ages 8 – 14

Join us for a Minecraft Studio in which we’ll design and build spooky villages.

Build houses and make them haunted! Design a new castle for Dracula! Decorate streets with animated jack-o-lanterns! Or create something else that makes things a bit creepy!

In This Afterschool Studio, you will:

  • Collaborate with others to design and build a spooky village

  • Learn about the design process

  • Learn to bring ideas to life in Minecraft

  • Practice creating and coding in Minecraft on MODA’s private server

  • Practice bringing ideas to life as they build a spooky world

  • Practice giving constructive and kind feedback

Requirements:

  • A Mac or PC with a strong connection to the internet. PLEASE NOTE: Minecraft Java Edition will not work on Chromebooks, tablets, or phones.

  • Zoom

  • Minecraft Java Edition, $29.99 (https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/store/minecraft-java-edition). PLEASE NOTE: Students with other editions of Minecraft are welcome to participate and build in their own single-player world; however, only students with Minecraft Java Edition will be able to interact with other students on the MODA multiplayer Minecraft Server.

Registration Fee: Registration for this Afterschool Studio is free, but space is limited — save your young designer’s seat by clicking the link below!

Important Note: Registration for this event ends one hour before the scheduled start time. The Zoom link will be emailed to all participants 30 minutes before the studio begins. If you have trouble logging in, please reach out directly to education@museumofdesign.org.

She holds a degree in History with a minor in Computer Science from the College of Wooster and a master's degree in History from GSU. She is currently a Ph.D. student in Digital Media at Georgia Tech.

  • This event is virtual and will be held over Zoom; participants will receive a link prior to the start of the workshop. If you do not see the link in your inbox, please email education@museumofdesign.org.

  • MODA reserves the right to cancel a program if the minimum enrollment requirements are not met, but don't worry: should MODA have to cancel, we will gladly issue a full refund to all registrants (if applicable). If you need to cancel your plans for any reason, we kindly request that you notify us at least 7 days prior to the event start.

  • Designers with different styles of learning or special needs are welcome in MODA public programs. We will be able to most effectively help everyone learn and enjoy this experience if we know about those needs in advance of the program. Please email leslie@museumofdesign.org with questions or information.
