Minecraft Studio: Space Colony

Virtual
Ages 8– 14

About This Afterschool Studio

Join MODA for a virtual Afterschool Studio and blast off into the future!

In this virtual studio, young designers will travel beyond Earth to build an out-of-this-world colony on a distant planet or moon. The session will begin with tips and inspiration for building in zero gravity environments, followed by hands-on design time. At the end of the studio, students can share their cosmic creations and receive feedback in a supportive environment.

In this Afterschool Studio, students will . . .

  • Practice using Minecraft’s tools to design futuristic space colonies.

  • Explore how people might live, work, and grow food in space.

  • Experiment with creative storytelling and world-building through design.

  • Transform ideas into a Minecraft world.

  • Provide a space to share and provide constructive feedback

  • Practice collaboration, inclusivity, creative courage, imaginative problem-solving, storytelling, and critical thinking

Requirements:

  • A computer

  • Zoom

  • Participants must have access to Minecraft Java Edition for PC/Mac to access MODA’s private Minecraft server where creative building takes place. Other versions of Minecraft and Minecraft on tablets and phones will not work.

Please note that this is a creative building class and that Player versus Player (PvP) activity is not allowed.
