Midtown Blooms Sunday Funday at MODA!

  • Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) 1315 Peachtree Street Northeast Atlanta, GA, 30309 United States (map)

Sundays are fun days, so MODA’s throwing a party on the plaza every second Sunday of the month!

Join us on May 14th from 1:00-5:00 PM for our Midtown Blooms Chalk the Block Party!

We’re going to be Chalking the Block by filling sidewalk squares on both sides of Peachtree Street with floral bouquets. Everyone is invited to participate! Just pull out some chalk, choose your favorite floral design, and let your creativity bloom as you help us fill the sidewalk with beautiful flowers.

Want to get involved?

  • Register to reserve a square by filling out this form: Midtown Blooms Registration. You can chalk a block on your own or you can bring a team of 1-3 people to help out.

  • Want a crash course before you get started? Zach Herndon and Jessi Queen from the Georgia Chalk Artists Guild will do a chalk-art demo on Saturday, May 13 at 12pm. They’ll share the basics of chalk art and tips for getting started.

  • Show up in front of MODA at 1pm on Sunday, May 14 to claim your square and get busy drawing. MODA will provide you with a small box of chalk, but you are encouraged to bring your own as well so you have all the colors you’ll need.

Not participating in our Midtown Blooms Chalk Party, but still want to join in on the fun? Come enjoy our other activities happening on the plaza in front of MODA on this Sunday Funday!

  • Purchase items from local vendors

  • Enjoy music by The Human DJ while hanging out in our Spun Chairs

  • Treat yourself to lunch from a local food truck

  • Grab a wand, and fill the sky with bubbles!

All events on the plaza are free. Entrance to MODA’s current exhibition, Close to the Edge: The Birth of Hip-Hop Architecture requires a ticket. Admission is $5 from 1-5 pm during our Sunday Funday events only.

This Program is supported by Midtown Alliance!

  • Recognizing a need for Georgia chalk artists to connect with one another and the public, the Georgia Chalk Artists Guild was founded in 2014. Jessi Queen, Katie Bush and Zach Herndon started the group with the goal of building community through chalk art.

The Georgia Chalk Artists Guild is an association of professional and emerging chalk artists who aim to promote the awareness and education of chalk as an artistic medium, and to provide resources for the public to connect with Georgia chalk artists. Learn more about the Georgia Chalk Artist Guild and their upcoming events on their website: https://www.gachalkartists.org/.
