Join MODA for a virtual Afterschool Studio and embark on a frost-filled journey of creativity, design, and STEM exploration in the world of Minecraft!
In this virtual studio, young designers will dive into the realm of bobsledding. By using the popular online sandbox game, Minecraft, students will be invited to imagine, design, and construct their very own venue and track for this famous winter sport. Through a combination of interactive lessons and individual challenges, participants will be guided through the process of designing and building a large-scale sports venue.
By the end of the studio, participants will have created their own unique ice boat-bobsled track to play on and share with others.
Please note: This is a creative building class. Player versus Player (PvP) activity is not allowed.
In This Afterschool Studio, students will:
Learn about the ins and outs of bobsledding
Learn about 3D design. What makes a design aesthetically pleasing?
Apply STEM concepts and use Minecraft to create intricate designs
Practice collaboration, inclusivity, creative courage, imaginative problem-solving, storytelling, and critical thinking
Requirements:
A Mac or PC (Minecraft Java Edition will not work on Chromebooks, tablets, or phones.)
Access to Minecraft Java Edition, $29.99
PLEASE NOTE: Students with other editions of Minecraft are welcome to participate and build in their own single-player world; however, only students with Minecraft Java Edition will be able to interact with other students on the MODA multiplayer Minecraft Server.A reliable internet connection

Thomas Hayes is an educator, engineer and an experienced designer. Before managing exhibitions at MODA, Thomas graduated from NYU with a degree in Sustainable Urban Environments. He also has over ten years of coaching experience in rowing and archery.
